Entovia has the exclusive right within the field of bioinsecticides to a technology that enables the continuous culture of microorganisms. By continuously culturing microorganisms, we are able to slowly change their environment in a specific and calculated manner, thus allowing for naturally occurring variants with optimal genetic characteristics adapted to the changing environment. In essence, this technology speeds up the process of evolution and can be applied to virtually any microbe of industrial importance—including bacteria and fungi.
Entovia begins the process with naturally occurring microbes that are already capable of killing targeted insects, albeit with poor specificity or low efficiency. The entomopathogenicities of these microbes are then incrementally improved over time by selecting for variants that can survive particular environmental conditions that might limit their usefulness on an industrial scale or by selecting for variants that are more selective in their ability to kill particular insects. The result is a catalogue of microbes that are tailored for specific insects and specific environmental conditions.
